UPDATE:

Due to inclement weather conditions forecasted for the remainder of this week, IMCO General Construction will not be able to complete paving and striping work prior to May 3. Therefore, the Des Moines Marina North Parking Lot will remain closed until Friday, May 7.

North Parking Lot Closure - April 19 to May 3

IMCO General Construction is rapidly progressing with their underground utility work in the Marina North Parking Lot. While they can accomplish much of the work behind the construction fencing in their staging area, there is also quite a bit of electrical and parking lot reconfiguration work in other locations of the north lot. At the request of the City of Des Moines, IMCO will be performing this work all at once during a two-week period, as opposed to performing the work in small sections over a longer period of time. The goal is to complete the work in time so that a much larger portion of the North Parking Lot will be open to the public prior to summer.

In order to perform this work safely, the North Parking Lot will be closed to all vehicle traffic (except emergency responders) from April 19 - May 3. Pedestrians will still be able to access the fishing pier and pedestrian walkway along Dock Avenue South. The Marina Office and all other Marina facilities/businesses will remain open and may be accessed via the Marina entrance at S. 227th Street.

Beginning tomorrow, April 13, mobile reader boards will advise drivers of the scheduled North Parking Lot closure as well as the closure of the Beach Park parking areas. On Monday, April 19, “Road Closed” signs will direct vehicle traffic away from Cliff Avenue S. beginning at both S. 223rd St./6th Ave. S. and S. 222nd St./5th Ave. S. Local access for residents will still be allowed.

Temporary Power Outage - M & N Docks

There will be an approximately three hour power outage at M and N Docks this morning while the temporary power feed is switched from the N-Dock ramp to the M-Dock ramp.  IMCO General Construction will be removing the N-Dock ramp in order to construct the concrete pile cap in that vicinity.

Modified Access to M-, N- and Guest Moorage Docks

As of this afternoon, access to M-Dock, N-Dock and the Guest Moorage Docks will be via the Guest Moorage gangway.  Signs are placed to direct tenants/visitors through the Marina Office complex breezeway and then left toward the Guest Moorage ramp.

The access change is temporary while IMCO is constructing the concrete pile cap in the vicinity of the N-Dock ramp and the Dry Shed Launch Pier.

Fishing Pier -- night time closures

Please note that the Des Moines Marina Fishing Pier will be closed to the public tonight and Thursday night (5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) due to power/lighting outage in that area.   Repairs are scheduled to take place on Friday.

Dock Avenue S. to be closed at CSR Marine on Thursday morning

Due to road repair scheduled for Thursday morning, March 18, Dock Avenue S. will be closed at CSR Marine from approximately 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. 

For that morning only, access to/from the Marina Office, Dry Sheds, M- & N-Docks, and Guest Moorage will be via Cliff Avenue S./Marina north access road and then southbound on Dock Avenue S.  IMCO General Construction will have the construction access gate on Dock Avenue S. (adjacent to Des Moines Mariner condominiums) unlocked and open on Thursday morning.

Extended Work Hours -- March 8 through March 12

From time to time, IMCO General Construction, will need to perform specific work after normal working hours as required by tidal conditions. This will only be in the case where a portion of the overall work must be performed safely at or near low tide for visibility purposes and/or for enhanced protection of the environment.


IMCO has received permission for their carpenters to construct formwork and install rebar for the new bulkhead’s concrete pile cap from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. next Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12. The following conditions were stipulated in the approval for the modification to Des Moines Municipal Code 14.04.170 Hours of Construction:

1. Construction lighting shall be directed away from the residential areas and limited to lighting required to safely illuminate the work zone as established by industry standards;

2. When work will occur after 7 p.m., all efforts will be made to stage materials near the work zone prior to 7 p.m. in order to reduce the use of construction equipment required to utilize back-up alarms;

3. Compliance with State of Washington noise ordinances (WAC 173-60-40/WAC 173-60-50); and

4. When work occurs after 10:00 p.m., the Contractor shall take periodic noise readings to ensure compliance with the requirements of WAC 173-60-040.
