If you have ventured anywhere near the Des Moines Marina in the past couple of days, you may have noticed that construction has begun on the North Marina Combined Projects.IMCO General Construction was awarded the construction contract in September and have now mobilized equipment and materials to the project site at the north end of the Marina. The construction work areas have been cordoned off... the project is moving along!
Initial construction activities for the first couple of weeks will involve demolition of the public launch and launch deck, installation of temporary erosion and sedimentation control facilities, and preparation for underground utility work.
Automobile and pedestrian access to construction work areas is restricted for the safety of the public and the workers. For those who enjoy "walking the Marina," an alternate route is available. This route will change as the contractor moves from work area to work area, but be assured that every effort will be made to keep you walking while keeping you safe. As work progresses, there may be times when you will encounter traffic control in the vicinity of work areas. Again, these temporary delays and/or detours are for the safety of all those involved.
