Notice to Dry Shed Tenants

Yesterday, the Marina staff met with the Superintendant for IMCO General Construction to work out details of the work zone that IMCO will need to install the new sheet pile wall in front of the dry sheds. The month of December will be especially difficult because IMCO needs a lot of space for the crane and for staging materials in that area. Both IMCO and the Marina staff are absolutely committed to maintaining a secure work zone to insure the safety of the Marina tenants, construction workers and Marina staff. To that end, the following restrictions on access will be in place by the end of the day on Wednesday, November 25.

Note: Normal work hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm – Monday thru Thursday. There will be unanticipated closures. Please check the project website at desmoinesmarina.blogspot.com for up-to-date information on site conditions, closures, etc. Parking will be available on the east side of the sheds.
  • During work hours, the sheds opening on the driveway between the buildings will be accessible from the south end. Access to the sheds facing Dock Street will not be restricted.
  • During work hours, access to the road between the office and the sheds will be restricted. Dry shed tenants who want to launch their boats during work hours will need to contact a Marina employee for assistance. Please call the Marina office at 206-824-5700 if you cannot find a staff person.
  • After work hours and on the weekends, (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), the dry sheds and the road between the office and the sheds will be accessible and tenants will not need to be escorted by a Marina employee. There will be a gate at the dry shed launch deck. The padlock on the gate is the padlock from the tug shack and will have the same code.
  • For the few remaining tenants on the west side, your sheds will be accessible on the weekends, (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for inspection but not for launching. Those sheds can be accessed from the north end by the Office.
IMCO and the staff will continue to monitor their work area needs and we will inform the dry shed tenants of any changes.

Thank you for your cooperation, we know that this is a difficult situation and the Marina staff will do everything possible to help you get out on the water.

Sincerely,
Joe Dusenbury, Harbormaster
